The reality behind reality

Ok, I have probably been spending way too much time lately focusing on Gold Rush Alaska. I can't help it. It's not as though I am addicted to the show or something. In reality, I am addicted to the fake reality behind the hit reality show. The more I read about Gold Rush Alaska, the more disapointed I become. It's hard to see the gold prospecting and mining going on through all the scripted drama. I wish they had just left the crew at Porcupine creek alone to do whatever comes naturally.

With that said, I spend an silly amount of time last night pulling together a little satire video capturing how I imagine Jimmy Dorsey was brought on to the Discovery Channel show. While I can't attest that Todd pulled Jimmy into the sauna for a meeting, I can't see the initial conversation about the show going any differently.



Poor Jimmy! I'll watch your new show when it comes on. That should be super interesting. Perhaps you might consider adopting the nickname, "Big Boom Boom Jimmy"? No?

I'm with you D.Swell. I think there is a huge market opportunity for a gold prospecting show that is drama free, that focuses on the hard work that gold mining takes and the interesting charaters that engage in it. Gold Rush Alaska has captured the imaginations of the American public, unfortunately, for all the wrong reasons.

Anyone have half a million dollars I can have to make a program that actually depicts reality? Imagine that - a reality show that is real? What a novel idea. What a missed opportunity for Discovery Channel.

OMG! Great video. Pretty much portrays these guys. How embarrasing for them. I agree on the missed opportunity for a REAL gold prospecting show. Maybe we need to pitch a real show to Discovery on REAL miners that aren't so stupid? And who do have the experience, the people and the proper equipment!

Well I have to say on last nights episode, I was irritated they didn't take the advice of a real and experienced miner "Dakota", and were very disrespectful to him. If I was in their shoes, the smartest thing they could have done is take the advice of someone who knows what they are doing. What a buch of egotisical brats! They don't deserve to find any gold.....I have a feeling they will be very humbled, even if it isn't REALITY.
