As I think through the Gold Rush Alaska series to date, I have to say the quote that has stuck in my mind more than anything was something the narrator said during Episode 10, “The concentrate buckets where worth more than the material they held”. What a great visual for the entire show – lots of heartache, drama and tears, very little of it worth anything. Sigh. What a missed opportunity.

As many of you have heard announced at our last Member’s Hootenanny, Prospectors Plus has begun manufacturing on our very own line of hand sluices, high bankers, sluice stands and cleanup gear tuned for prospecting in the toughest of conditions. Our goal is to ensure that all our friends, members and neighbors have access to high quality, durable, effective and low cost gold prospecting and mining gear. Lowering the barrier entry to as many people as possible to enjoy our hobby has been a dream we’ve wanted to realize for a long time. Today we take a step forward on making that dream a reality.

Well, if you missed the Prospectors Plus Member’s Dredge Camp 2010 – you really missed out. What a blast! There were more than 40 members able to attend during the weekend outing, running about a dozen or so dredges (including Doug’s 4-inch monster) right on the #7 claim on Williams Creek. In addition to the mountains of great food put on by our very own master chef Laren, there was loads of different equipment for people to try their hand at (like the new Gold Grabber II) and many new friends to meet. It was a fantastic first ‘big’ event for our club!
