This week's episode of the Prospectors Plus ‘Ore Dump’ podcast ended up pulling a lot of conversation from our club forums right to the old kitchen table. As typical we opened by discussing the changes in the gold and silver markets, quickly followed by an update on our prospector t-shirt contest, our funniest post of the week (which turned out to be Chris' post on fracking) as well as answering our forum question of the week. Dead Air lost a bet to old Deuce on the name of the state fish of Hawaii. Back rubs commenced.

Finally, I have had a chance to sit down and complete the code I started over a month ago – code that allows members to change their ProspectorsPlus.com website password from the hard to remember, random collection of numbers and letters to something you can actually remember. Sorry it took so long.

I had an interesting morning reading through one of my favorite gold-related blogs, not necessarily a gold prospecting read, but more centered on owning gold as a hedge. With gold breaking above $1400/oz this morning, dhkenrick of OwningGold.com espoused a common quandary of many gold owners when prices soar to new levels – will gold prices continue to climb, or is this the top?

This week’s episode of the Prospectors Plus 'Ore Dump' Podcast was a hoot to host. The episode opens with a lively discussion on the continued run in gold and silver in the commodities markets. While gold is currently butting up against nearly $1400/oz it was interesting to hear that the metal to watch in the coming months is silver. Silver closed on Friday at $26.73.

I guess with all the rush getting ready for my families vacation to Florida, I missed forwarding on a great story about a record-breaking gold find from the historic Black Hills of South Dakota. On September 13th, the Holly Meyer of the Rapid City Journal reported that a find made by two recreational gold prospectors, turned out to be largest gold nugget recovered in the last 120 years from the Black Hills area.

The internet is all about connecting people together, the wisdom (or insanity as some would say) of the masses! ProspectorsPlus.com may still be just a speck on the canvas that is the internet – but we are steadily growing in size and user base. To help grow it further, over the past several days, we have been paying considerable attention to reaching out to other gold prospecting and small-scale mining websites, clubs and forums, letting them know the work we are doing here in Washington State and the fun our membership is having. What can our membership do to help? Well, that’s easy.
